As someone who always wanted to play Destiny, but had no console, I’m delighted it’s finding its way to PC. Unfortunately for me, there’s lots I don’t know about the universe or the upcoming sequel. With that in mind, I’ve pulled together a quick list of frequently asked questions.

When is Destiny 2 releasing?

The game is set to release on 8th September 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One

When is Destiny 2 releasing on PC?

There is no set date for the PC release, but it will be launched not long after.

How can I buy Destiny 2 on PC?

It will be made available through only.

Why is Destiny 2 on PC going to be run by Blizzard?

Blizzard are purely handling the online infrastructure. There’s lots of information here as to why.

What’s different about the PC version?

The PC version includes the following:

  • 4k Resolution Support (3820×2160)
  • Uncapped framerate
  • Full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping
  • Text chat
  • Adjustable Field of View
  • Detailed PC settings screen
  • 21:9 monitor support

How much will the game cost?

The standard retail price for any console game (around $55.00 for the standard, digital edition). You can check here.

Does the PC have dedicated servers?

Sadly not. It will still use Peer to Peer.

Can I carry over my Destiny characters and items into Destiny 2?

No. All characters start over - the opening mission in Destiny 2 details the reasons why.

When can I play Destiny 2 before it launches?

There will be a Beta in the summer, but no date is known.

Can I guarantee my Beta access?

If you pre-order with Gamestop and Amazon, you gain gaurenteed access to the Beta.

Is there a Season Pass?

Yes. There's no confirmation of price, but it's expected not long after launch.

Are there any new classes?

No, the same three are available: Hunter, Warlock and Titan. These classes also gain new Super abilities. Arc Strike for Hunters, Sentinel for Titan and Dawnblade for Warlocks.

What new content is there in Destiny 2?

There is 1 raid confirmed and dungeons known as Lost Sectors. There’s also public events (which we assume are like those in Guild Wars 2); these have heroic difficulty.The campaign itself is called The Red War.

What about the story content?

So far the only details we have is that there’s more cutscenes in Destiny 2 than all of Destiny combined, while there’s an abundance of story missions and quests. Strikes also make a return, with the “Inverted Spire Strike” already demonstrated to press.

What about gear changes?

We do know there’s now Exotic gear, as well as swords having been confirmed. There’s also new weapon slots for Kinetic, Energy and Power. Power includes weapons such as Fusions, Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers. There’s also some new Vanguard armor sets.

Have they improved the UI?

Yes. There’s a brand new UI and HUD that provides much more information.

Any new enemies?

We know of a new Cabal (known as Hounds) as well as Incendior.

What about the new map/s?

Although we don’t have all the details, Bungie state big improvements have been made to exploration. There’s also the ability to choose landing zones, and a whole new map system. Bungie have also confirmed new planets with Cayde and Titan in the game.

Does Destiny 2 still have PvP?

It does, but PvP modes have been adjusted to 4 v 4, instead of 3 v 3 or 6 v 6. There’s also new PvP game modes (one is called Countdown).

Have they improved the social features?

There’s all new clan integration, including Looking For Group, Clan banners, shared rewards and in-game rosters.
