Gaming With Uncle Lester

Uncle Lester may live in a van down by the river, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t a gamer at heart. Always on the lookout for an unsecured Wi-Fi connection to use before being runoff, his quest for gamer glory continues!

Hello and welcome to the 24th edition of Gaming with Uncle Lester! I’m your host of today’s show, Uncle Lester. Rule number one when dealing with a "lady of the night". Always ensure she understands that when you said 500, you meant 500 Station Cash. She came to the driver’s side window of my van, asked how much I had on me, I said I had 500 in my wallet right now (my Station Wallet), and bada-boom, bada-bing, magic. It’s not my fault she didn’t ask for the 500 first!

You know what I want to see make a return to video games? Full motion video and interaction. Back in the day, some of the worst games had crappy versions of this because the technology back then sucked. The acting was normally nothing to write home about either. There were some exceptions though.

Most notably, I’m talking about the Wing Commander series. Humans are in a long space battle with a cat-like race called the Kilrathi. Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, Thomas F. Wilson all gave brilliant performances and really brought the game to life. And this was with some of the crappiest Full motion video technology ever devised.

Imagine bringing back this style of storytelling, but with the modern conveniences of today’s technology. Mark and the crew could reprise their role and recreate the Wing Commander series! I really wish this would happen. And whatever you do, do not mention the movie to me. That was a complete pile of shit and shall never be spoken of again!

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 brought a large number of notable actors to the screen for the game – George Takei, Tim Curry, J.K. Simmons, Gina Carano, Jenny McCarthy, and more. It’s time to bring this kind of gameplay interaction back!

That’s it for today’s show but tune in tomorrow for more from your sufferin’ succotash of the gaming world, Uncle Lester! Be sure to follow me on Twitter at @UncleLesterWIFI too or send me an email with your gamer topic at [email protected]!
