No word on regionalism.
HanbitSoft, the Korean publisher who seems to have obtained the IP for Hellgate: London has announced that not only will the game not shut down, but that they are also hard at work for an expansion for the game. All this, despite the fact NAMCO/BANDAI is shutting down U.S. servers in less than three months.
The expansion is supposedly being developed by a new studio in San Fransisco owned by T3 Entertainment, the company which holds a controlling stake in HanbitSoft. One thing that makes this slightly fishy is that most of the assurances the company is giving, while in English to American media, seems to be aimed at the Korean market.
Hellgate: London is now HanbitSofts game, and we have already formed a team. They are doing hard work for updates and patches. [The] service in Asia, including Korea, is in good hands, says HanbitSoft CEO Gi-Young Kim.
In the end, HanbitSoft seems to be saying a lot of things, and... no one seems to be responding anymore. Former Flagship-ite's like CEO Bill Roper have either moved on or are working with HanbitSoft. In fact, Bill just got hired by Cryptic. Good for you Bill.
