And that man is Captain James Tiberius Kirk.
A geek debate that stretches further than space itself, we boldly go where no man has gone before by actually settling this age-old argument and declaring William Shatner the winner.
And the fact that we just bought stock in Priceline.com has NOTHING to do with it:
Kirk was always first in line for the away-team as they beamed down to some mysterious, unexplored, or potentially dangerous planet. As Captain of the ship, this should have been unheard of. The arguably most valuable member of the crew throwing himself into the heart of danger with startling frequency? Why would he do this?
Perhaps Kirk knew the dangers of the missions and refused to risk another mans life in place of his own on sole basis of rank. Maybe he realized that his training, skill and experience could save lives lives that would be lost in his place should he refuse to get his hands dirty. Or maybe he wanted to be the first to discover, greet, and befriend a new and interesting race of people so that he could totally hump-up on them.
