If you've spent any time in your game's forums, you've probably seen it. Past all the flames, you'll come across a new post with the title "Pics of my Teacher NekkiD!" or something similar, and that post will have a link. If you click it, you'll find your character up for eBay faster than you can say scam.

According to the internet security firm ESET.net, gamers, and the online game they play, have been the number one target of malware IN THE WORLD for the past three months. In addition, more than 12% of all malware attacks are attributable to Win32/PSW.OnLineGames - a sneaky little keylogger trojan. Be sure your anti-virus has this on KoS!

According to ESET: It’s important for participants in MMORPGs (Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games) like Lineage and World of Warcraft, as well as “metaverses” like Second Life, to be aware of the range of threats ranged against them: not just harassment nuisances like griefing and pointless quasi-viral attacks like grey goo, but phishing and other scams that can result in financial loss in the real world. Their objective in such cases is to steal account information or game items and then resell them on the black market (or at any rate on eBay).
