Tribe this...

Tribes. The word conjures images of ... well... Indians. Cowboys and Indians. Lots and lots of Indians and bows and horses and buffalo!

Clearly, though, upon reading, I am completely off base. It appears that Tribe is just a fancy way of saying guild.

So, in Gods and Heroes there will be Tribes. Which isn't a bad thing. Guilds are fun. You have built in groups of like minded folk (hopefully) who share your love of the game and sense of humour (if you're lucky enough to actually be funny) and you can get together to do all kinds of fun stuff that requires more than just yourself to take on the big nasties.

The benefits of being in a guild, or Tribe, are many. Usually centering around the ability to take on high end raid content.

I can only imagine how raids would work with minions. With people used to soloing, in theory, the logistics of coordinating them and their minions would be interesting. I haven't seen a lot of information on how Tribes and raiding will work (it's entirely possible that I've missed this information because I'm a little slow now and then).

So, here are a whole lot of facts that I've painstakingly researched (read: wild speculation).

- Raids will be geared around the use of minions. So the nasties will be even harder because you've got a bunch of cannon fodder to throw at them.

- Raid coordination will be complicated because of all the individually controlled minions. If you've ever seen the little DKP video thingie with the guy screaming about more DOTS!!! you'll understand. If not... think cat herding.

Okay, I've really got nothing else, but those two amused me to no end. I can just picture the chaos of trying to coordinate a raid force all with their own individual little built in groups.

Unless of course, minions aren't useable in a raid setting. Which would throw it all off and I'd have to think up a whole bunch of new totally ridiculous theories, none of which would be as amusing as a hundred bodies in a zone.

At any rate, I'm interested to see what the devs over at Perpetual are going to do with Tribes. There's a lot of potential with the system they're putting into place. Incidently, if anyone has tasty dev tidbits about all of this, please feel free to drop me a line.
