More in the chronicles of the lawyer every gamer loves to hate.
Jack Thompson apparently got a visit from a pair of U.S. Marshals at his home yesterday. They Marshals were working on their mandate to ensure judicial safety. See, Jack had written a letter to a U.S. Judge in Miami. Feeling like he's been harassed without reprieve, Jack compared his rights with those of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, obviously thinking he's got the short end of the stick. In his letter Jack made this statement:
We find yesterday that enemy combatants at Guantanamo are to get more due process from federal judges than what I am to have. I guess my "mistake" was not killing 3000 people to make my point...
I demand a hearing.
Presumably the Marshals were at Jack's house to remind him that talking to a judge that way is just not acceptable behavior. In response to the visit, Mr. Thompson has characteristically over-reacted, filing papers requesting a meeting with the House Judiciary Committee to discuss the supposed harassment by the Justice Department, and other papers under the Freedom of Information Act, requesting all information the Justice Department has on him since 1992.
Oh Jack, what will we do with you?
