Of course we'll see how relative "help" is...

It what appears to be an encouraging sign, Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 - the next version of Windows in development, will come with tools designed to help PC Gamers manage their games.

According to an image from ThinkNext, the games startup menu in the current build of Windows 7 includes an option to automatically alert users to updates for PC games. An option box to allow Windows to auto-download "information and news about games and game providers" is also shown.

Windows 7 is expected to be released in January 2010.

Of course, in the world of over-protective security policies on games that are sometimes ineffective, this could turn out to be more hassle than it's worth. But here's to hoping it turns out good.
