Week in Review

I am in love with Atlantica
Online. You'll be seeing first impressions and videos from
me the more I play, but I am having a blast in the Closed Beta of this
game from NDOORS. The translation is 100% solid so far, the action is
fast-paced, and the game is just plain fun. How good is it? style="font-style: italic;">Atlantica is my new
#1 free-to-play game!

In contrast to Atlantica,
4Story by
Zemi Interactive Inc. is a World
of Warcraft (WoW) clone with atrocious translation.
Graphics and combat are fine, and the emulation of WoW is so complete
that the game could pass for a trial of Blizzard's title if it were in
English. I mean good
English. It looks like it could be an OK game if players could tell
what is going on, but the poor translation left me just killing
monsters with no understanding of why. And that felt like a grind. The
good news is that 4Story
is in beta. They have plenty of time to polish the translation if some
dedicated testers will get in there and help them out. So, if you are
looking for a game like WoW with a solid foundation and are willing to
be a true beta tester, I recommend 4Story.

On the heels of the href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/38296">Ten Ton Hammer
review of the retail edition of style="font-style: italic;">Dungeon Runners, I
felt compelled to fire it up again. Honestly, the more I play style="font-style: italic;">Dungeon Runners,
the better it gets. Kudos to NCSoft, and a bump in rankings for the
game.

Finally, Mythos
seems dead.
With the forums for the game closed and most of the developers
dismissed to save money, it seems unlikely that what used to be the
free-to-play game with the highest potential will make it anywhere.
It's very sad, but Mythos
drops completely out of the Top Ten for the first time ever.

Atlantica Online.
I also have Cabal Online, Red Stone, and Archlord on my next for new
games to try out. As always, I keep playing some
betas of other games, most of which I can't write about yet.
