If you want to do as much damage as possible in The Division, your best bet is to skill into the Tech tree. There are a couple ways of building a tech focused agent, but we’ll be strictly focusing on getting the best damage output possible at long range. Other tech builds focus on skill damage from proximity bombs and turrets, and while you can get a lot of damage out of those, focusing on the firepower of your weapons is the way to go for reliable heavy damage.

That stat you will want to make sure your gear has a lot of is of course firearms. Firearms increases the damage done by all of your weapons, even the secondary and sidearm. When you’re not stacking firearms, look for attribute bonuses for critical damage, damage boost, and increased critical chance. Of course health from stamina is nice, but you shouldn’t be getting yourself in the kind of situations that require it if you’re playing your Tech build smart and have a security agent running tank blockade.

Skills

This build is a little strange because it only involves one skill from the Tech tree, but it is the Tech ultimate ability which I guess justifies the “Tech build” name. You should start by picking up pulse and then modifying it with the tactical scanner ability that will increase all damage done to targets affected by the pulse.

Your next skill is really user’s choice, but smart cover or portable cover are good picks because they can be modified to increase the users attack damage and provide protection which is something you’ll be needing when you don’t have a whole lot of health.

The ultimate ability you’ll be grabbing is tactical link. It not only provides an increase to your damage output, it increases the critical strike damage and critical strike chance of you and your whole party. Get tactical link as soon as you can to greatly increase the amount of damage you do.

Talents

Your talents should focus on complementing your damage dealing lifestyle by making it easier to land shots and/ or keep your ammo topped up.

  • Steady hands – reduces recoil for a short period of time after entering cover.
  • One is none – refunds a bullet to your gun if you kill an enemy with a headshot.
  • Precision – headshots will pulse an enemy, applying any mods you have for pulse as well.
  • Repo reaper – killing an enemy with your sidearm gives you one magazine of primary ammo.

Weapons

Since this build focuses on doing damage via your weapon and not abilities, you’ll want to go with the heaviest hitters out there, the sniper rifles. Not only do they hit hard (capable of one shotting even elite level NPCs with the right amount of attributes), they have a massive range that will keep you out of the danger zone while you go to work landing headshots.

The one downside of the sniper is that you can’t really hold a ton of ammo like you can with an assault rifle, but by taking the One is none and Repo reaper talents you should be able to keep your chamber full in most situations.
