Yesterday’s successful Kickstarter campaign for Camelot Unchained has locked in more than $5 million in funding for the tri-realm RvR-focused MMORPG. Along with the more than $2.2 million raised from Kickstarter, the game will also receive an additional $3 million for its development - $2 million from City State co-founder Mark Jacobs and an additional $1 million from other investors.

“The last 30 days have been an incredible journey,” said Mark Jacobs. “We believed there's an audience for a highly focused game like ours, which has now been proven. What we didn't expect was how our community would come together so quickly and avidly. Not only is our average pledge off the chart, our backers have been just as intensely supportive in other ways, from providing immense amounts of helpful feedback to translating information into four languages (German, French, Japanese and Korean), and more. Our entire team is grateful beyond words for the way they have inspired us with their fervent interest and amazing enthusiasm.”

The devs are now ramping up for full development of the MMORPG by creating a proprietary engine optimized for large-scale battles as well as a block-building crafting and housing system. Over the last couple of weeks the studio posted videos previewing of technology demos for both the building and large-scale battles.

The Camelot Unchained team also posted a new video today to thank fans for their support on reaching the Kickstarter goal.
