On Reuters India, a pair of columnists have made an argument that the recession hitting North America will help drive the business of the free-to-play MMOs that are being developed in Asia. While it seems that the majority of the article focuses on the Korean gaming fad - Lineage and Aion are specifically mentioned - they have some really sparkling commentary from a number of economic analysts who just love to spout off about MMO gamers. Here's the biggest winner:
"I don't think (online multiplayer games) get impacted at all, because people who play them are addicts," said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan. "Losing their jobs makes them more likely to play because they have more time to play."
