Farming Berries is one of the more tedious practices in Ark: Survivor Evolved (collecting stones is definitely the worst), but there are ways to make the process more efficient and enjoyable. It’s Ark so of course it’s going to include a dinosaur. Yes Dinosaurs/ some of the other creatures on the island can make berry picking a whole lot more effective, saving you time and hand callouses. Don’t know where to start? You can to the right place, here are the top berry gathering creatures currently inhabiting the island.
It’s important to note that harvesting berries with creatures will not yield any Fibre, just berries, prefect if you need to load up on Narco Berries for some taming.
Trike
The Ark equivalent of the Triceratops is not only a beast in combat, they also harvest a mean berry. Ride into a group of berries and attack to destroy the bushes in a cone area in front of him, harvesting anything they may have held.
The downside of the Trike is that they are very slow moving, but that is more than made up for with their large inventory space. You will need a Trike saddle in order to use them for farming. You can make one yourself at level 20, or get someone to make it for you.
Steggo
The opposite of the Trike, the Steggo uses swipes of its spiked tail to wipe out any bush or plant in its range. The tail swipes can be somewhat tricky to line up but when you do you’ll be mowing down bushes with abandon.
Steggo’s are somewhat difficult to tame because of their high damage output, so make sure you’re either using tranquilizer arrows or have a group with you to knock them down quickly. The Steggo Saddle requires level 30 before it can be crafted.
Mammoth
The Mammoth is a large, furry lumbering beast with a massive weight capacity and enough power to level trees with a single attack. And they’re also great at gathering berries! Wander into a berry plot and attack to make short work of the bushes in front of you. Don’t worry about encumbering yourself, the Mammoth can carry a ton.
Mammoths can also be sued to harvest wood and thatch in the same way as berries. Mammoths are quite slow, so you only want to go for the largest bunches of bushes to make the trip worthwhile.
Bronto
They don’t come any bigger than this. The humongous Bronto can wipe out entire forests with one swipe of the tail. Apply that same effect to a field of berries and your inventory problems will be gone.
The kicker is that Brontos are very hard to tame, especially the knocking unconscious part. You’re going to need multiple players lending you a hand to pull this one off. Consider looking for a tribe if you’re not already in one.
Bronto Saddles can only be crafted at level 55, and take a whopping 350 hide to complete.
