Destiny 2 Martyr's Retribution Review and God Roll

Martyr's Retribution is a Sundial weapon. It has the new archetype Wave Frame. It is available via the Mars Obelisk.  God rolls should be, all things considered, easy to get since once we have enough obelisks linked we can grab multiple weapons per Sundial run.

Wave Frame is a new archetype.

"One-shot Handheld Grenade Launcher.  Projectiles release a wave of energy when they contact the ground."

So...

When the grenade hits the ground it sends out a wall of fire that does 130 damage (at the time of writing this guide) to every enemy that it hits.   You read that right, EVERY enemy.   It doesn't share damage or anything like that.  A flat 130 is taken off every enemy that it hits.  Beautiful!

This Area Effect grenade launcher fills a hole that I didn't even know existed in the game.   That's great design.

Aztecross Gaming gets pretty excited about this weapon in the video we link below.   He suggesting firing Martyr's Retribution, then throwing out your Thermite Grenade and then finishing with your weapon of choice, in his case a sidearm.

God Roll

I agree with Aztecross on what the God Roll is for this great weapon.   Here are my thoughts on why this is the best possible way to go.

Linear Compensator

Slightly increases projectile speed, stability, and blast radius.  It's unclear if the blast radius actually increases or not since it may already be capped, but speed and stability win anyway.

High-Velocity Rounds

Increases projectile speed and reload speed.  Win, win.

Auto-Loading Holster

The holstered weapon is automatically reloaded after a short period of time.   Fire the grenade, switch to an alternate weapon and in a short time, you are ready to fire again.  No, reload time or essentially no reload time.  If you are able to aim in any way, shape or form then each shot will do its business and then you're ready to go all over again.

Demolitionist

Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy.  Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves.

Fire Martyr's Retribution -- Throw Grenade -- Fire Martyr's Retribution again.      Effective and annoying, which just happens to be one of the most coveted combinations in Destiny 2.

"Getting hit with a wave of fire and cleaned up with a sidearm! What META is this?"
--Aztecross Gaming

The synergies available to this weapon are simply effective and simply fun.  It does require a rather specific playstyle, but if that style suits you then this weapon will put a smile on your face.

Aztecross's video is well worth the watch.  It's both entertaining and informative.     Questions?  Just ask!
